On Aug. 11 !973 DJ Kool Herc hosted a party which will forever change the spectrum of how we would listen to music forever. Hip hop heads and historians alike attributes this to hip-hop's birth. Some 40 years later we still celebrate the music that has had a lasting impact not only in the tri state area but the world as well.

Hip hop has not only made major impact with in music culture but has also played a major influences with the dance, fashion and art community as well. In honor of Hip hop's birth a special event was held at First Avenue street park to celebrate . Graff writers and muralist from across New York came to pay tribute and create some really cool murals.
